Pork

8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.
8:34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

-Matthew

Great move to show of your awes0me exorcism sKiLlz: kill all the livestock the city has.
I guess the last verse actually puts things a bit more candid than it was. Maybe one should think more of pitchforks and sharp blades than of calm pleas to leave. After all: he just got rid of two maybe harmless possessed guys by killing off dozens of animals.
On the other hand: those were swine. If they belonged to Jews, what did they actually do with them? I mean, aren’t Jews forbidden to eat pork? Or did I misunderstand something there?
So maybe they were wild swine. But still: If it was a wild herd: couldn’t he found a better way to dispose of these devils? He is supposed to be the son of God, can’t he just make them, like, go away?
But even if they were wild animals, I guess there is something unsettling about some guru/magician who can make animals kill themselves. It might be a bit unnerving.

Terror in the name of God

16:27  Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
16:28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
16:29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
16:30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

-Judges 16:27-30

So, let me get this straight? Isn’t that sort of what the terrorists did on 9/11?
He brings down two pillars? He kills nearly the same amount of people?

So the Bible condones this?
